Athletic Bilbao will be hosting Sevilla FC for its home fixture at the San Memes Stadium. Sevilla is currently on the second spot in the La Liga table, trailing the leaders, Real Madrid, by 8 points. But its lead over the third-placed Real Betis is pretty slender with just one point separating them. The next two teams, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are tied at 29 points each.
Athletic Bilbao is in the middle of the points table at the 9th spot. A win against Sevilla will take it ahead of Barcelona to the 7th spot. With the League only halfway through, there will be plenty of opportunities for Athletic to progress on the points table, and try and qualify for the Europa League at least.
The past clashes between the two teams have been more or less evenly won, with no team having an outright upper hand. The last two La Liga encounters have been won by Athletic Bilbao, while it is Sevilla who has scored more victories overall. Betting sites too can’t seem to make a choice, as the odds are pretty evenly matched for both teams.
Match prediction and football betting tips for Athletic Bilbao vs Sevilla F. C. La Liga 2021-2022. The match is going to be played at the San Memes Stadium in Bilbao on the 12th December 2021.
Athletic head coach Marcelino Garcia is likely to field a more or less sane team that held Getafe to a goalless draw in their previous game. However, Iker Muniain and Alex Berenguer are looking to make a comeback. This means that Williams and Zarraga are will most likely be benched.
Sevilla will be looking forward to including star forward Rafa Mir, as well as Oliver Torres and Oscar Rodriguez will be looking to start the game.
Like has been the case this season, it is most likely that Athletic will again hold its opponents to a draw, with both teams picking up a point each.
Bet on a draw.
There have been over 2,5 goals scored in three out of the previous four games between Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao. The risk here is that goal scoring has not been a strength for either of the two teams this season. Athletic Bilbao has just 13 goals in La Liga so far while Sevilla has 25. Still, looking at the history between two teams, we think betting on the 'Over' is worth a punt.
