Brighton and Hove Albion will be hosting Chelsea as the action in the Premier League 2021-22 season continues. This is an intriguing match for more than a couple of reasons. Chelsea is all but out of the title race after its loss to Manchester City last weekend. It is in third place right now and has a bit of a cushion ahead of West Ham in fourth but it would still not want to fall back further. Brighton is one of those teams against whom Chelsea has struggled in recent times.
Four out of the previous five matches between Chelsea and Brighton have ended in Draws. This also includes one just a couple of weeks back at Stamford Bridge. Brighton is in ninth place at the moment and can certainly be proud of the season it is having. It comes into this match unbeaten in its previous five matches across competitions and has only lost one match in the Premier League since November 20 of 2020.
The football betting sites are offering some pretty generous odds on Brighton to win or to draw this match. Let us see if the odds are worth the risk.
Match prediction and football betting tips for Brighton and Hove Albion vs Chelsea Premier League 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Amex Stadium, Falmer, England on the 18th of January 2022.
We think things at Chelsea are a bit more dire than you might expect just looking at their position in the Premier League standings. Chelsea has won just one out of its previous six matches in the Premier League, four of them being draws, and is in danger of being caught out by the trailing pack below it. The lack of goals and an inability to convert chances is hurting Chelsea and is forcing Thomas Tuchel to play differently from his preferred combinations.
Brighton is certainly capable of holding Chelsea's attack, as it demonstrated in the previous match against it just a few weeks back, and we think it will follow a similar strategy of sitting back and then trying to attack on the counter. Brighton has won just three out of its ten home matches this season and we think it would be very happy with a draw once more.
The odds available on a draw are certainly looking very attractive right now and we think you should think about a punt on it for sure.
Bet on the Draw.
Four out of the previous matches played between these two teams have seen fewer than 2.5 goals being scored. We think there is a very good chance that the same is going to be the case in this match. Chelsea has a strong defense that will keep Brighton's attack under check but its own attack is not firing at the moment. Lukaku continues to have a terrible time up front and Chelsea is neither creating enough chances nor converting the ones it does create.
