The world seemed to be at Chelsea's and Thomas Tuchel's feet a few weeks ago but things have started to change. Chelsea has suffered two consecutive 1-0 defeats and questions are being asked of its attacking prowess. Those are pretty fair questions too and it appears as if Romelu Lukaku may have masked some of the weaknesses that Chelsea has in its attack. If he is not scoring goals, Chelsea struggles.
Still, Chelsea has won four out of the six games it has played in the English Premier League 2021-22 season so far and will be playing Southampton in front of a home crowd next. Southampton has had a very slow start to its season and is currently winless after six matches. Four losses and two draws have left it in 16th place at the moment. Of course, it was a couple of weeks back that Southampton managed to keep Manchester City to a 0-0 draw so it is not going to just roll over for Chelsea.

The odds on Chelsea to win are not very good but we don't think it makes sense to bet against it. Thomas Tuchel has proven himself to be a very astute manager that is quick to recognize problems and make changes. Also, two poor results should not take away from the fact that Chelsea was dominating the Premier League just a week back. It had at least two clear chances to equalize against Juventus as well which on another day could have easily gone in. It has the quality to make a strong comeback against a struggling Southampton team.

Southampton has not scored a goal in its previous three Premier League matches and is clearly struggling to create enough chances. It also has a total of just four goals in the English Premier League 2021-22 season so far. We will happily take the odds on offer for both teams not to score in this match since it is one of the weakest attacks in the league taking on the strongest defense.
There was only one shot on target in the previous match for Chelsea and that came from Romelu Lukaku. He has three goals in the Premier League already and is clearly the biggest offensive threat that Chelsea has. After a couple of matches i which he was below his best, we expect him to come back strongly and add a goal to his tally.
