Reigning Europa League champions will be hosting the DFB Pokal Champions Leipzig this Saturday in a Bundesliga clash, as both the teams look to build up a winning momentum ahead of their fresh European campaigns.
Frankfurt was thrashed 6-1 by Bayern Munich in the opening match of the season and was forced to share points with Hertha and Cologne in the next two matches. Frankfurt traveled to Bremen last Sunday to play Werder in what turned out to be one of the most closely fought games of the current season. Mario Götze gave the visitors an early lead, scoring in the 2nd minute.
But that was soon answered by Jung in the 14th minute, and Bittencourt gave the hosts a lead 3 minutes later. Randal Kolo and Jesper Lindstrom struck before halftime to put the visitors in command once again, and Djibril Sow extended the lead soon after the start of play. A late goal by Fullkrug wasn’t enough to force the visitors to share points, as Frankfurt went on to jump to the 11th spot.
Leipzig started off with 2 consecutive draws and was stunned 2-1 by Union in the third match of the season. They did however manage a turnaround in its latest match, beating Wolfsburg 2-0, thanks to a brace by Christopher Nkunku. Leipzig traveled to Frankfurt on the back of a huge 8-0 win against Teutonia Ottensen in the DFB Pokal, and will be hoping to pick up maximum points in this game as it looks to make a move to the top 6 in the points table.
Match prediction and football betting tips for Eintracht Frankfurt vs RB Leipzig 2022-23. The match is going to be played at the Deutsche Bank Park Stadium, Frankfurt, on 3rd September 2022.
The hosts will not like to tinker with the balance of the team that gave them their first win. However, with a Champions League clash coming up, player fatigue could be an issue. Aurelio Buta, Almamy Toure, and Jerome Onguene are likely to miss out due to injuries, while Kristijan Jakic is likely to find a spot in the starting eleven.
As for Leipzig, Youssouf Poulsen and Lukas Klostermann are unlikely to take the trip due to injuries Peter Gulacsi makes a comeback in front of the net, while Josko Gvardiol replaces Halstenberg.
With both teams eager to get into the top 4, we are likely to have an electric performance from them. With both, Timo Werner and Nkunku back in form, we are giving the visitors a slight edge.
Bet on RB Leipzig to win.
With 5 of the last 7 competitive matches between the two clubs seeing goals at both ends, a BTTS bet seems to be a good wager. Also, a BTTS bet would have won in each of Frankfurt’s 4 top-flight matches so far, and so would have been the case in 3 of Leipzig’s last 4 games. We are therefore recommending a BTTS bet.
Nkunku has scored 5 goals in as many competitive games so far this season, including a brace against Wolfsburg. He had scored 20 goals in the last season, finishing 4th on the top scorer list. With both Lewandowski and Haaland leaving the Bundesliga, he has a real shot at finishing at the top this time around.
