Barcelona will be searching for it’s second consecutive win, as it hosts Real Valladolid this Sunday in matchweek 3 of the ongoing season of the La Liga.
Brushing the disappointments of the previous season aside, Barcelona has started it’s latest campaign on a positive note, and are undefeated after the first two matches. The Catalan club was held to a goalless draw in the opening game by Rayo Vallecano, but came back strongly last weekend, when it visited San Sebastian last weekend. Lewandowski scored within the first minute of the match, but that was equalized by Alexander Isak soon after. Lewandowski then went on to score a brace with another goal in the second half, and with goals from Dembele and Fati, Barcelona achieved a convincing 4-1 win, moving up to the 5th place on the points table. Barcelona also held a rampant Manchester City to a 3-3 draw in a mid-week friendly, and will be looking to secure full points against the recently promoted Valladolid.
Owned by the legendary footballer Ronaldo, Valladolid is back in the top flight after a brief hiatus. They have had two tricky opponents at the start of the season, and started of with a 3-0 loss against Villarreal in the opening game. Pacheta’s boys will however be happy with their performance last weekend in the match against Sevilla. Both the teams scored in the final 10 minutes of the match, sharing the spoils. Anuar Mohamed was the only one to score for the visitors. While Valladolid would like to win as many matches as they could, their realistic goal will be to avoid a bottom 3 finish, and a point from this match could go a long way in achieving that goal.
