RB Leipzig welcomes Cologne to the Red Bull Arena this week, as it continues its journey in the Bundesliga 2021-22 season.
Leipzig started the New Year on a great note, winning three consecutive games and collecting 9 important points in the process. The winning spree helped the team narrow its gap with the top 4 to a mere 3 point deficit. The victory march was however halted by the table-toppers Bayern Munich, as Leipzig lost its last Bundesliga game 3-2 at the Allianz Arena.
This was Leipzig's first loss of the year across competitions, and the team would like to brush it off and focus on the upcoming game. As things stand now, Leipzig is currently at 7th place with 31 points, just one point behind its opponents for the game, Cologne. While a European finish looks almost certain for the Red Bulls, they will be gunning for a Champions League finish.
Cologne, on the other hand, has seen a dip in its form recently, managing to win just 1 out of its last 4 games across competitions. The team recently saw itself knocked out of the DFB Pokal by Hamburg in a penalty shootout. The team has, however, collected 13 points from its last 5 Bundesliga games, and will be feeling pretty confident going to the Red Bull Arena, especially after a 1-0 win against Freiburg in its last game. With just 2 points away from being in the top 4, this season is a golden chance for Cologne to make it into the Champions League after more than 4 decades.
Match prediction and betting tips for RB Leipzig vs 1. F. C. Cologne Bundesliga 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, on 11th February 2022.
After replacing Beierlorzer as the coach of Leipzig, Domenico Tedesco has managed to steady Leipzig to a great extent, as it now trains its guns on a top 4 finish. He is expected to go ahead with a 3-4-2-1 formation for this game but will be missing the services of Marcel Halstenberg and Tyler Adams due to injuries.
Steffen Baumgart on the other hand has no such concerns and has a fully fit squad to choose from. With both the teams having scored pretty regularly in this season, we expect both of them to score in this game too. A victory however looks unlikely for anyone, and both the teams are expected to share the spoils.
Bet on a draw.
