Leipzig will be looking to get back to winning ways when it plays host to Cologne in matchweek 2 of the ongoing edition of Bundesliga 2022-23.
Starting the match as favorites on most football betting sites, Leipzig was held to a surprise draw by Stuttgart in the first game. French forward Christopher Nkunku struck within the first 10 minutes of the game much to the delight of the visitors’ fans. However, that advantage was negated soon after, as Naouirou Ahmada scored an equalizer, and the scores remained 1-1 at full time. Leipzig, which won its first-ever DFB Pokal in the last season, will be hoping to make a quick turn around, and score a win this weekend.
Steffen Baumgart, playing his second season as the head coach of Cologne, had a winning start to his campaign as The Billy Goats registered a convincing win against a recently promoted Schalke. Dejan Ljubicic, new signing Luca Kilian, and Florian Kainz scored a goal each for the hosts, leading them to a 3-1 win. While Anthony Modeste didn’t play in the last game, his move to Dortmund will surely be a dent in the attacking abilities of Cologne.
Match prediction and football betting tips for RB Leipzig vs F. C. Cologne, Bundesliga 2022-23. The match is going to be played at the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, on 13th August 2022.
Both the teams have a relatively fit squad to choose from. The only missing player for the hosts is likely to be Yussuf Poulsen, who has a muscle injury, while Cologne will be playing without the services of winger Dimitrios Limnios, who is nursing a cruciate ligament injury.
Despite having a better start to the season compared to Leipzig, we find it highly unlikely that Cologne has enough firepower to win this one.
Bet on RB Leipzig to win.
Of the past 10 head-to-head meetings between the two clubs, a BTTS bet would have won in all but one of those matches. Leipzig’s defenses have looked a bit rusty in the last few matches, including the pre-season friendlies, and we see them conceding at least once in this match.
4 of the last 5 home games for Leipzig against Cologne have produced at least 3 goals. Indeed, 7 of the last 9 head-to-head matches have seen more than 2.5 goals. 6 of the last 7 Bundesliga games for Cologne and 3 of the last 5 top-flight games for Leipzig too have seen at least 3 goals scored in them, leading us to believe that there will be a high-scoring match at the Red Bull Arena.
