Real Madrid takes on Deportivo Alaves this weekend, in matchweek 25 of the La Liga 2021-22 season.
Real Madrid had a great start to the New Year, winning 5 consecutive matches across competitions. However, the team’s form has seen a sudden dip and has won just 1 of its last 5 matches, while losing 2 games. These include a loss in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey at the hands of Athletic Club, as well as the first leg in the round of 16 of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.
Nevertheless, the team is still sitting on the top of La Liga tables, enjoying a 4 point lead over Sevilla. The team will be under pressure though, as Sevilla has not suffered a loss in its last 10 outings, and is slowly closing the gap. With its next games against Alaves, Real Sociedad, and Rayo Vallecano, Madrid has a great chance of opening up the gap.
Alaves has been struggling so far in this season and is fighting hard to avoid another relegation. The team is currently sitting in 18th place and needs to cover a distance of 4 points if it wants to overtake Granada. Starting from November last year, the team endured an 11 match winless streak, which saw them pick up just 4 points from a possible of 33. But that streak was broken in the club’s last match against Valencia, which it managed to win 2-1.
Match prediction and betting tips for Real Madrid vs Deportivo Alaves La Liga 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid, on 19th February 2022.
Playing their sixth consecutive season in the top flight, the time is running out of Alaves’ hands as it looks to avoid relegation. The team will be playing to its full strength, as the only absentee for this match is Ximo Navarro. Coach Mendilibar is unlikely to disturb the balance of the team that won against Valencia. However, the team will need to work on its defense, as they have conceded 39 goals, second-most among all teams.
Real Madrid has a great opportunity to regain its confidence as well as its lead, as it faces minnows on home turf. Ancelotti is expected to hold back Luca Modric, and Marco Asensio, and replace them with Federico Valverde and Rodrygo. Karim Benzema and Ferland Mandy too should be available despite some niggles.
While the humiliating loss against Alaves when both the teams last played at the Bernabeu will be at the back of the mind of the hosts, they have enough firepower to overcome the visitors this time around.
Bet on Real Madrid to win.
Both teams have scored in four out of the previous five matches between Real Madrid and Deportivo Alavez. The recent form of both teams has also been sketchy and there could be some errors made leading to goals. With odds of just over 2x, we are happy to make a punt on this market.
