Borussia Dortmund once again hits the road and travels to Sinsheim to take on hosts Hoffenheim in match week 20 of the Bundesliga 2021-22 season.
Dortmund is firmly in second place on the points table, enjoying an 8 point lead over Leverkusen. It is, however, 6 points behind the leaders Bayern Munich, and will need to pick up 3 points each in the next few games, if it wants a shot at becoming the number one German Club once again. Dortmund has been scoring freely in the last few games, and it has helped them win 3 out of the last 5 games, and suffered a solitary loss against Hertha.
The team however has endured a shock loss against second-tier team St. Pauli, which saw them crash out of the DFB Cup. Dortmund will be looking to put this loss behind them, and start afresh as they take on the field against Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim is 4th in the points table with 31 points and will be pretty happy with its outings so far this season. However, it is within striking distance of 5th placed Union Berlin, which has the same number of points, and Freiburg, which has 30 points. A victory in this game will help it further consolidate its position within the top 4.
Match prediction and betting tips for Borussia Dortmund vs TSG Hoffenheim Bundesliga 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the PreZero Arena, Sinsheim, on 22nd January 2022.
The past few games involving both the teams have been pretty high-scoring ones. In fact, the last 6 games have seen an aggregate of 23 goals being scored by both the teams, at an average of close to 4 goals in each game. In this game too, we expect both the teams to find the back of the nets at least once.
Like in all the previous games, Dortmund coach Marco Rose will be heavily reliant on Erling Haaland to get his team ahead. Haaland has played exceptionally well for his 15 goals so far in this Bundesliga season and will be looking to close the gap with Schick and Lewandowski in the race for the top scorer. Rose will however be missing out on Giovanni Reyna, Emre Can, Soumaila Coulibaly, Luca Unbehaun, and Morey Bauza due to various reasons.
As for the hosts, Bicakcic, Marco John, Robert Skov, and Kaderabek will be unavailable. Despite enjoying home advantage, we predict that Hoffenheim may end up losing a double for the first time against Dortmund.
