Trust
LeoVegas is very well regulated. They have received licenses from the UKGC, Malta, Sweden, Denmark and a few other European countries. As such, they have to adhere to many regulations to keep players safe and prevent any kind of fraud.
Generally speaking, LeoVegas has always enjoyed a good reputation among players and punters. That said, on AskGamblers they have a reasonably high number of complaints, though most of those have been resolved. Many complaints seem to be in regard to delayed payments. So, whilst payments are made eventually, it seems a number of players have encountered difficulties here.
Additionally, LeoVegas received a hefty fine from the UKGC last year after they’ve been found guilty of distributing misleading adverts and a failure to protect self-excluded customers, which also included a failure to return funds to those customers.
These infractions apparently occurred in 2017, however, and LeoVegas has worked to resolve the issues and paid the fine.
Overall, we consider LeoVegas safe and well regulated, which is the main reason why we still recommend them. If you ever do encounter difficulties with your withdrawals or something else, you will get help, which is reassuring.
Bonuses and promotions
At the time of our review, new punters at LeoVegas were able to claim a “Sports Mobile Welcome Bonus Offer” (yes, that’s a mouthful and called thus at LeoVegas). New customers simply have to deposit €10 after signing up and can then claim a 100% profit boost.
The offer is valid for bets placed up to a maximum stake of €10 on in-play markets via mobile. This profit boost is valid for 30 days and in case of a win, a maximum of €100 is paid out as cash. System bets or cashed out bets don’t qualify. However, if a bet is made void the offer is reinstated as long as it has not yet expired.
Beyond that, new players are alternatively able to claim a casino or live casino welcome bonus. But that’s about it for the time being.
We’ve seen plenty of sports bonuses at LeoVegas, including football offers, tennis offers, or cricket offers. Though they have never had a huge number of bonuses and promotions, instead focussing on a handful.
It does pay to check in regularly to see what’s available, of course.
In the past, bonus terms used to be quite generous, allowing players to use bonus money when participating in promotions. But LeoVegas has adopted stricter terms now, which means you should always read the terms carefully before claiming a bonus.
Odds and betting selection
LeoVegas offers an interesting sportsbook experience that is mostly geared towards mobile users. This becomes clear soon after you start scrolling through the sportsbook on your desktop. But more on that later.
Football is, of course, a popular sport to bet on and features in prime position in the LeoVegas sportsbook as well. Whilst there is some scrolling involved when you want to check upcoming matches, everything is well-sorted and easy enough to find. Top leagues and events are featured at the top, whilst further below you’ll find the leagues according the countries.
Strangely, odds are given in fractions by default, though you can change this in your preferences. Once you click on a match you are interested in, you will see all the betting options available. These include:
- Full Time
- Total Goals
- Both Teams to Score
- Double Time
- Correct Score
- Draw no Bet
- Asian Lines
And much more. Handily, you will get important facts and stats about participating teams and players to help you make more informed decisions. Somewhat irritatingly, once you happen to click on something else (even if you just check your emails on your computer), the page refreshes and does so every time you return to it.
Be that as it may, betting options are plentiful at LeoVegas and the odds are generally quite competitive.
Of course, with their focus on mobile betting, we actually do recommend you try out their mobile betting service as well. In fact, in many areas it is the preferable way to place bets at LeoVegas. Your screen might be smaller, but even the desktop setup is geared towards mobile players, so you’re not actually missing out.
The in-play betting at LeoVegas is excellent. The sportsbook places a clear focus on in-play betting as it is where you land automatically when you launch the sportsbook.
Banking
Whilst LeoVegas has a good help centre where you can find lots of information around the site, signing up, or learning how to place bets, you will find little information about their banking options here.
They don’t have a dedicated banking site and the information about deposits and withdrawals only covers a few issues you may encounter when making a transaction.
Of course, we do know that LeoVegas offers the usual range of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, e-Wallets, prepaid options and direct banking. But which ones will be available to you is something you will only find out once you visit the cashier.
More importantly, the current transaction limit is set at €/$/£ 100,000, though it’s not quite clear whether that is also the monthly limit. In any case, you will only get three free withdrawals per month, otherwise a fee applies.
Finally, be sure to complete your KYC process before making your first withdrawal request. Some users suggest that it can be tedious, lengthy and ID documents may be rejected if they don’t meet the LeoVegas requirements.
Customer Service – 3.5/5
The customer service team at LeoVegas is very engaging. Even in gambling forums they often reply to all reviews, whether they are positive or negative, offering assistance in case there have been issues.
The team is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Response times are fast, and the live chat button is available on all pages, no matter whether you are in the casino or the sportsbook. You can contact the team just as easily via your mobile device.
The help centre is useful but doesn’t cover everything we’d like to see here. Still, as a first option to find answer to any problems you may encounter it often does the job.
The customer support is available around the clock, which is handy especially for customers outside of Europe.
Software – 4/5
If we were to judge the software only based on the desktop appearance, the rating would be 3/5 at best. The main problem we have here is the wasted real estate on the desktop page, where you will find a lot of space on either side of the used areas. Especially in the sportsbook, it would have been preferable to use all the available space to make it more accessible and to be able to see more information at a glance instead of scrolling down so much.
That said, the desktop page is still easy to use and attractive. It just seems like a lot of wasted space. In terms of functionality, we have no complaints whatsoever. The page loads quickly, whether you visit the sportsbook or play a game. And navigation is a breeze.
We do recommend that you access LeoVegas via your mobile device, however. Here the screen is much better used than on the desktop and it becomes apparent that the site primarily caters to their mobile users.
Now navigation is even more intuitive and whilst there is still some scrolling involved, it doesn’t feel tedious.
LeoVegas has received multiple awards for their mobile betting platform and they are well-deserved.
Other
Of course, LeoVegas started out as a casino and live casino and they are going from strength to strength in that area. They offer well over 2,000 games now, working with only the best and most trusted casino game providers to bring players always the best and newest games.
Interestingly, more than one big jackpot has already been won at LeoVegas and the last few times the lucky winners always scored their wins when playing at LeoVegas mobile. That goes to show just how successful their mobile platform is.
Of course, the do have an excellent live casino as well.
Summary
Is LeoVegas the best bookmaker out there? No, of course not. There are better ones. But do they possibly offer the best mobile sports betting experience? We don’t want to answer this question with a resounding yes, but they are definitely among the best.
If you prefer to place your football bets via mobile, LeoVegas is absolutely worth your consideration. They offer competitive odds, very good live betting, an excellent range of betting options and plenty of games on top of that.
Their bonuses are lacking right now, which we hope will be improved again in the future as we’ve seen regular offers in the past. But outside of that we can easily recommend LeoVegas for your mobile football betting needs.
