Bayern Munich will be searching for it’s fourth consecutive victory as it hosts Borussia Monchengladbach this Saturday in the ongoing season of the German Bundesliga.
Depending champions Bayern Munich have had a terrific start to the season. They beat Eintracht Frankfurt 6-1 in the opening game, followed by a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in the second match. Last week, Bayern traveled to Bochum, where a brace by Sadio Mane and goals by Sane, de Ligt, Coman, and Gnabry, as well as an own goal by Gamboa helped them complete a 7-0 decimation of the hosts. Despite the exit of last year’s top scorer, Robert Lewandowski, the goal scoring abilities of Bayern have taken no hit, and they look well on track of lifting a record extending 32nd title.
Despite playing rather inconsistently, Borussia Monchengladbach was the only team that was undefeated by Bayern Munich in the last season, with one win and a draw against them. With just 12 wins from 34 matches, Monchengladbach finished a disappointing 10th on the points table at the end of the previous season. Under a new coach, Daniel Farke, Monchengladbach has had a much better start this time around, winning 2 of it’s 3 top flight matches so far. For it’s most recent match, Monchengladbach hosted Hertha, and beat them 1-0 thanks to a penalty by Alassane Plea. As they currently trail Munich by just 2 points, a win here could catapult them to the top spot in these early stages of the tournament.
