FC Barcelona continues its journey on the road after the winter break and travels to Los Carmenes to take on the hosts CF Granada as La Liga 2021-22 continues.
Coach Xavi Hernandez has settled the Barcelona ship after being brought in as a mid-season replacement for outgoing coach Ronald Koeman. In 7 La Liga games under the new coach, Barcelona has lost just once, against Betis, and won 4 games. The team has steadily moved up the points table and is at 5th place with 31 points. With just 1 point separating it from 4th place Atletico, and two points behind Betis, Barca is within striking distance of breaking into the top 4.
Granada, which is currently at the 13th spot with 23 points seems to have found its form recently. It has not lost a game since the team faced a 1-4 drubbing at the hands of Real Madrid back in November. Coach Robert Moreno, in his first season with the Nazaries, has molded the side pretty well, and the team will be definitely looking for a top 10 finish at the end of the season. The team began its second half with a frustrating 0-0 draw against 10 men Elche and will hope to net at least one goal against Barcelona.
Match prediction and betting tips for Granada CF vs FC Barcelona La Liga 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Nuevo Estadio de Los Carmenes, Granada, on the 8th of January 2022.
The good news for Granada boss Moreno is that almost the entire squad, with the exception of Neyder Lozano, who is suffering from a head injury, is available for selection. This should enable him to put his best 11 on the field, and capitalize on the home advantage.
As for Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona, they have multiple players in the infirmary. Ferran Torres, Pedri, Moussa Wague, Martin Braithwaite, Ansu Fati, and Memphis Depay are all nursing their injuries, while Gavi, Alex Balde, Ez Abde, and Philippe Coutinho are recovering after testing positive for COVID 19.
With such a depleted opponent, we expect Granada to score at least once during the game, but in the end, the team might just find itself a bit lacking against Barcelona. The previous encounter ended in a draw, and Barca would very much like to avoid a similar performance under the new coach. That said, we do expect an extremely hard-fought encounter.
If there was ever a time to expect parity between the two teams, it is now and we think the odds are very favorable for that right now.
Bet on the Draw.
