The Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend to take on hosts Chelsea as the Premier League 2021-22 season continues.
After a shaky start to the season under coach Santo, Tottenham brought in Antonio Conte in a mid-season change. Under him, the Spurs have played 9 games so far, and remain unbeaten. While the management would have liked a few more 3 point finishes, they can take solace from the fact that they have picked up at least 1 point in each game since November last year.
Tottenham is currently in 5th place with 36 points, having played just 19 games so far, 2 less than 4th placed West Ham, who are just 1 point ahead. The Spurs’ last Premier League game against Leicester City would have given them a lot of confidence. The team was trailing 1-2 till the ninetieth minute, and two goals in stoppage time gave them a stunning comeback.
Chelsea has been pretty consistent in this season but seems to have wavered just a bit towards the end of last year. While it is sitting comfortably on the third spot with 44 points from 23 games, the team could have been much closer to the top spot, had it not collected just 11 points from its last 9 games. It trails Manchester City by 12 points, and the dreams of a top finish are all but extinguished. Chelsea is yet to win a Premier League game in the new year, and have won just 1 of their last 5 matches.
Match prediction and betting tips for Chelsea F. C. vs Tottenham Hotspur F. C. Premier League 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Stamford Bridge Stadium, Chelsea, on 23rd January 2022.
Antonio Conte will be looking to avenge the back-to-back losses he endured against his former team, in both the legs of the EFL Cup and the hosts are well equipped to give a fitting reply. However, Thomas Tuchel will have to do so without Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James, all of whom will most likely miss this game.
As for the visitors, Heung-min Son, Cristian Romero, and Eric Dier are suffering from various fitness issues, and won’t be available for selection.
We anticipate this to be a closely fought, but low-scoring encounter, with the hosts enjoying an upper hand.
Bet on a Chelsea win.
Both teams have not scored in four out of the previous five matches between the two. With so many players missing for this important encounter, we could see both teams be a bit tentative and this once again increases the likelihood of just one team scoring in this match.
