Chelsea faces a tricky start to their Premier League 2022-23 campaign, as they travel to Goodison Park this Saturday, to face Everton.
A lot of drama surrounded Chelsea’s ownership in the last season. But coach Thomas Tuchel managed to keep his players focused on the game, and finished 3rd on the points table, albeit 18 points behind second-placed Liverpool. They had a far more disappointing campaign in the Champions League, where they were the defending champions.
The Blues were knocked out of the quarterfinals by the eventual champions, Real Madrid. Despite the entry of some big names like Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Gabriel Solnina, Tomas Tuchel has been pretty disappointed with the pre-season transfers, as he lost quality players like Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, and Romelu Lukaku.
With the transfer season still open, there are talks of a few other players looking to leave the club for greener pastures, and that seems to be the root cause for Tuchel’s displeasure. While they have played only a couple of games during the break, the 4-0 loss against Arsenal in the Florida Cup will be weighing heavy on the players’ minds when they take on the field.
Everton is one of only 6 English clubs that has never been relegated from the top flight, but they came quite close during the last season. It was Frank Lampard’s appointment as the head coach in January that changed the fortunes of the club, and they managed to keep themselves off the bottom 3 by just 4 points.
In his first full season as The Toffees manager, Lampard will be looking to make a winning start against his former club. Lampard has made 3 major signings in pre-season transfers, bringing in Ruben Vinagre on loan, and buying Dwight McNeil and James Tarkowski from Burnley. Everton is scheduled to play against Aston Villa, Nottingham, and Brentford in the upcoming weeks, and a win this weekend will set them up nicely for these relatively easy fixtures.
Match prediction and football betting tips for Everton F. C. vs Chelsea F. C. Premier League 2022-23. The match is going to be played at the Goodison Park Stadium, Everton, on 6th August 2022.
Everton has a long list of unavailable layers for this inaugural match. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andros Townsend, Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes, and Tom Davies are all in the infirmary, while Salomon Rondon will be serving a suspension.
Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly are expected to start for Chelsea, along with Ben Chilwell, and Reece James. Timo Werner is nursing a hamstring injury and is likely to give the game a miss.
While Chelsea seems stronger of the two teams, at least on paper, they have not quite hit the form that could see them through with ease.
Bet on a draw.
Each of the last 4 matches between the two clubs have seen fewer than 3 goals scored in them. None of the teams have shown the intent to attack in the last few matches, and we are likely to see a low scoring game.
Both Teams to Score
No @ 1.80
In 7 of the last 9 top-flight matches between the two clubs, a BTTS bet would have lost. We are therefore recommending against betting on both teams to score.
