Both Torino and Lazio will be looking to extend their winning run, as they face each other on match day 2 of the Serie A 2022-23 season.
Torino faced a newly promoted Monza for its first match of the season, beating them 2-1. Newcomer Miranchuk and Sanabria scored a goal each for the visitors, handing them an easy win despite a late effort by Mota on behalf of Monza. After barely saving itself from relegation for two successive seasons, Torino made a strong comeback last time around, finishing 10th on the points table. Ivan Juric has developed a good rapport with his players, and that has shown results on the ground. However, the team does feel slightly weakened with the exit of Bremer and Andrea Belotti, and only time will tell if the new recruits can gap the bridge in the middle third of the field.
Lazio, which finished 5th last year, will definitely be aiming for a top 4 finish in this season. Maurizio Sarri’s team was trailing Bologna 1-0 at halftime in its opening match. However, an own goal by De Silvestri, and a goal by Ciro Immobile in the 79th minute helped the hosts sail through with 3 crucial points. As Lazio host Inter Milan next weekend, it will be important for them to continue with the winning momentum. Having radically overhauled its squad in this transfer season, Lazio management will hope that the new players will gel well with their existing stars, Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic to give them the desired results.
Match prediction and football betting tips for Torino F. C. vs Lazio Roma Serie A 2022-23. The match is going to be played at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Turin, on 20th August 2022.
Maurizio Sarri is likely to hand Ivan Provedel his first match for the club between the sticks, as Luis Maximiano was sent off in the 6th minute of the game against Bologna. Pedro too will be unavailable due to an injured ankle. Alessio Romagnoli is likely to feature in the rear third along with Nicolo Casale, who is back from a ban.
As for the hosts, Ivan Juric is likely to start with a 3-4-2-1 formation. He will however be unable to call for the services of Aleksei Miranchuk and David Zima, both of whom are injured. Alessandro Buongiorno is back from a suspension, while the most recent addition to the squad, Perr Schuurs is likely to earn a start.
Despite Torino’s latest inclusions, they seem a bit short on firepower to defeat a club of Lazio’s caliber. However, we do expect them to put up a good fight.
Bet on Lazio Roma to win.
In 4 of the last 5 head to head encounters between the two clubs, goals have been scored at both ends. 8 of the past 9 top-flight games for Lazio and 5 of the last 8 such games for Torino too have seen the net ripple at both ends. We are therefore recommending a BTTS bet.
Immobile won his 4th Capocannoniere in the previous season, scoring 27 goals, and has already started his latest campaign on a positive note, scoring the winning goal against Bologna. We expect him to score once again this weekend.
